Best Software for Indian Classical Dance Schools (2026): Five Tools Compared

DanceHall is the best fit here for ongoing Indian classical batches when you teach and handle the admin yourself. Enrollment, payments, pauses, announcements and materials live in one place. Jackrabbit Dance and Studio Pro offer recital and costume tools; Acuity focuses on bookings, and Class Manager charges through online payments rather than a monthly subscription.
Today, you may match Zelle screenshots to a payments sheet, send recordings through WhatsApp and re-enroll students after a break. A Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Kuchipudi or Odissi batch can continue for years, with students leaving for exams or summer travel to India and returning to the same class.
What an Indian classical school needs
Test each tool against the way your school runs. Your batches may continue for years rather than follow terms. Students pause for exams or summer travel to India, then come back to the same place. Check how the tool handles those breaks and the recordings and notation you share each week.
Students in other time zones need access to those materials. You may also be the only teacher doing all the admin, with no office help. If your school is a nonprofit, include its board, donors and annual production in the requirements you test. Ask to see each of these tasks during a demo.
Your weekly work in DanceHall
In DanceHall Studio Pro, you handle that work this way:
- Share your enrollment link. The student, or the parent enrolling a child, chooses a class, signs your terms and pays online. The roster shows the enrollment with its signed terms and payment.
- Set monthly or quarterly tuition. Cards are charged automatically. Failed payments trigger retries and a card-update link.
- Pause a student's tuition until a chosen restart date, or until you resume it. Their place and class materials remain available.
- Ask Sangs to announce a change or pause a whole class. Review and confirm its card before the action happens. Announcements can go to one class, several classes or the whole school.
- Post recordings, notation and links by week. Choose which weeks students can see. Each student's name appears over their video, and students in other time zones can access materials outside class hours.
For enrollments paid through DanceHall, you no longer need to match a Zelle screenshot to a row in your sheet. QR-code attendance is also available. Carnatic and Hindustani music schools can use the same enrollment, tuition and materials setup.

Prices were checked on each vendor's own pricing page on November 1, 2026. Class Manager's US fee comes from its own blog, August 2026. "Not listed" means it is not on that vendor's pricing page or help centre, which is not the same as unavailable.

When another tool fits
Jackrabbit Dance covers schedules, registration and a parent portal for children's classes. Unlimited support and a Product Coach are included. Its production tools make it a candidate when recital and costume administration take up much of your time.
Studio Pro, formerly DanceStudio-Pro, includes ticket sales on every plan as well as recital and costume management. Premier adds permissions and two-way in-app chat. Calls and texts cost extra.
Acuity offers booking pages, calendar sync, capacity limits and waitlists. Growing adds group classes and subscriptions, which can run until canceled or stop after a set number of payments, up to 23. It has no student roster beyond class capacity, so you may still need separate student records. The DanceHall and Acuity comparison covers the work involved in running ongoing classes.
Adult drop-in studios that sell memberships usually look at Mindbody, from $79/month per location. It is built for fitness and wellness businesses, not for batches that run for years.
Class Manager includes registration, invoicing and staff access alongside the features in the table. Training and data imports are free. You can record cash and bank transfers without charge; a month with no online payments costs nothing. Compare its transaction fee with what you actually collect online each month.
DanceHall does not currently offer recital or costume tools. A nonprofit with board oversight, donor records, newsletters or annual-production tickets should discuss those requirements on a Custom call.
Choosing a plan and moving students
Under about 20 students, a sheet plus Zelle or Class Manager may be enough. For 30 to 150 students taught by one teacher, consider DanceHall Studio Pro. It has no contracts or per-student fees. Schools with several teachers, a board and a production calendar can discuss Custom, priced on a call.
To move from WhatsApp and a sheet, send the enrollment link to each class group and check the roster as students complete enrollment. Keep your current records while you check. There is no fixed completion time, including for a move involving 50 students.
Use the step-by-step migration guide to plan the move.

Questions studio owners ask
Is Jackrabbit good for a Bharatanatyam school?
Jackrabbit serves Western youth studios with recital and costume tools and a parent portal for children's classes. Its price rises with student count, including inactive students. A dated pause and watermarked recordings are not listed, so ask to see them in a demo.
Can I pause a student's tuition over the summer?
Yes. In DanceHall, choose a restart date or pause until you resume. The student keeps their place and materials. Jackrabbit, Studio Pro, Acuity and Class Manager do not list a dated pause.
How long does it take to move my students?
There is no fixed time. Students enroll themselves through one link, so send it to each class group and check the roster as they enroll. Keep your old records until the roster is complete. Follow the step-by-step migration guide to plan the move.
